Home Inventory

Having a completed inventory is not only useful if you have a claim, but it also helps determine whether you have enough coverage on your possessions right now.

To help with its completion, move from room to room, completing the inventory tool as you go. It may be helpful to use a video camera to capture the details of your items. If possible, include manufacturer name, model number, and serial number if applicable. Remember to use the current replacement costs as values — online shopping sites or catalogues will help you determine this.

Once completed, we recommend that this inventory, videotapes, and possibly photocopies of other important documents (list of credit cards, bank account numbers, birth certificates, etc) is kept off site such as in a safety deposit box.

Remember to re-evaluate this inventory periodically and if you feel that changes need to be made, or have general questions, call and speak to one of our insurance professionals.
